It’s past four o’clock and the sun is setting fast as I leave Skateraw and head towards Dunbar but I decide to make a quick call to Whitesands, which sits between two rocky headlands just south of the town. At the southern end is the Barns Ness lighthouse, and it is a lovely walk through the gorse and around the headland to find another small beach alongside the lighthouse. Back at Whitesands, I walk along the low dunes and back along the shore as the setting sun turns the sky pink and the wading birds select their supper.
