263. Aberdour Black Sands
A free Saturday and a favourable weather window gives me an opportunity to take a beach tour of the Kingdom of Fife for the first time, so it’s a 4.30am start to maximise the walking time. The day is forecast to be sunny but the possibility of 45mph winds, so I have come prepared. The plan is to head anti-clockwise around the coast, starting with the two beaches of Aberdour, and on arrival at 8.30 it’s perfectly serene and peaceful as this small, historic village comes to life. First stop is the small beach known as Black Sands, right in the heart of the village. The views across the First of Fourth are stunning from here, and I’m struck by the number of benches looking out across the bay – at least 30. A handy viewing board details the landmarks viewable across the bay.
