206. Coldingham Bay
I’ve been thinking about a trip along the coast of East Lothian for some time, and now a window of opportunity has opened up for me right at the start of the year. So with reasonable weather forecast I take my chance to spend a few days working anti-clockwise around the coast from Berwick to Edinburgh. First stop is wonderful Coldingham Bay, one of the few beaches technically in the Scottish Borders region which touches the sea for a few miles north of the border. This quaint bay is backed by colourful beach huts and is popular with surfers. I climb The Mount alongside the beach to get a good view from above, before doing a circuit of the bay. An intrepid group of hardy sea swimmers are de-robing ready to enter the icy sea, and believe me it’s a cold day. Well done to them.
I had to cut my trio short shortly after this visit so I return the following week on a sunny January afternoon, which gives me the opportunity to snap some much better photos. Most of the pictures shown here are from the second visit.
