258. East Haven Beach
Whilst not exactly bustling on this quiet sunny Sunday morning, the beaches of Monifieth and Carnoustie were far from deserted, being located in the heart of the towns, so I am pleased to move a little further along the coast to the quiet bay at East Haven. The vibe is different here, more rural, quiet and remote. I wander around the small bay, backed by a car park and alongside a popular cycle track to Arbroath. A wooden sculpture sits alongside the car park, commemorating the role of fishing and fisherfolk in the early development of East Haven. The village claims to be one of the earliest recorded fishing communities in Scotland, dating back to 1214.
