256. Monifieth Beach
I haven’t visited a Scottish beach since May and it’s now mid-October, so I’m eager to get back on the sand to check out the 35-mile coastline of Angus, which runs from east Dundee to Montrose. The forecast is hard to rely on, but I take a chance that today will work out fine and I set off at 4.30am for the five-hour drive to the county border at Monifieth. It looks like I’ve made a good call because (despite cloudy skies and rain on the way), I am greeted with blue skies as I pull up to the Monifieth beach car park. It’s a Sunday morning and only a few dog walkers are around as I stretch my legs on this pleasant local beach, which looks out over the Firth of Tay. The Angus odyssey is on!
